They have a pretty simple business proposition. Sell wine as inexpensively (or cheaper) as it can be purchased almost anywhere; one wine at a time until sold out. Over the past half year I have been receiving Evans’ emails, and have bought some wine I could not easily find….and at really attractive prices. There is a commitment to service and a level of engagement with their buyers that is more than anyone should expect from an online seller. Consistently, the wines are as cheap as you can find them. As usual, you do have to pick through the offerings, and while there is a reasonable share of unexciting wine, I have found some pretty hard to find stuff, bargain priced value wines, and more exclusive and expensive wines at really dirt cheap prices.

When Evans told me about the upcoming Latour deal, I remember immediately verifying the wine’s provenance to my satisfaction and secondly asking if I could get a shot at previewing the deal as a “heads up” to WneZag’s readers. So here it is. Don’t miss out on Monday’s sale. The 1990 Latour is monumental. Period. I drank it young, but not since the mid nineties, and could not believe how packed the wine was, with a solid core of fruit exhibiting power and grace all at once, a massive mouthful that I remember thinking would probably survive 100 years in the cellar.
