I am an inflight magazine junkie, scouring the likes of Andrew Zimmern, Mark Bittman, Jason Oliver Nixon and other columnists in pursuit of the next undiscovered gem of a hidden local restaurant, hotel, wine shop, or hedonistic delight. I travel incessantly, coveting new months and issues, flipping to “tips” and “tops” pages with similar impatience that fuels haphazard Christmas morning wrapping paper assaults. I bet garage sale, antique market, and auction shoppers experience same levels of anticipation that maybe, just maybe, the next hidden discovery will justify a lifetime of digging around.
This February I met Kelley McCarter Copeland at the Design Bloggers Conference in Los Angeles. We had a meal together along with a very cool group of design savvy peeps. Kelley definitely stood out from the crowd of 250 bloggers and designers with her full-on friendly energy, along with a keen eye for style and tastemakers. So it did not surprise met that she published a blog called The Hidden List, a body of content featuring style, design, and fashion trends, and the people who define them. What did surprise me is that Kelley asked me to share my own 5 favorite hidden life’s treasures; wine or otherwise. The image below links to her really fun post featuring those personal top 5 discoveries; endeavors I recommend for anyone’s bucket list. Click to see my favorite wine, wine shop, African adventure, Paris lunch, and San Juan, Puerto Rico eatery over at Kelley’s blog.
